On Thursday afternoon, January 26, my wife had no power steering when she came home. She had to muscle the steering wheel to drive her van. I had limited time because I work the afternoon shift but I was able to add all the power steering fluid I had on hand and the steering worked fine...at least I thought. The next morning, my wife had no power steering again. She woke me up at 7:00 am, which was early for me since I get to bed around 2 am, because she needed a ride to work. On the way to her job, she suggested I try Honest1 Auto Care because they are just down the street from our house and the repair shop we have used for the last 20 plus years is at least 3 weeks out on their schedule. After taking my wife to work, I went to the auto parts store to pick up more power steering fluid because, no matter what I did, I would need to drive the van somewhere. Before going home, I went to Honest1 Auto Care to talk with them about our situation. Even though they initially indicated that they were about a week out, they asked if I could bring the van in for them to look at it. They were going to fit it in! I drove home, put power steering fluid in the van and immediately drove back. They called an Uber to drive me home...and they paid for it! I needed to pick my wife up from work around 12:45. At some point well before noon, I called Honest1 to see what they had found. I was prepared for the worst. Our van is a 2005 model with over 226,000 miles. They had found that the power steering high pressure hose had disconnected from the pump. They reattached the hose and were cleaning up the power steering fluid that had gotten all over everything. Also, they were letting it run to make sure this fixed the problem. Before leaving the house to pick up my wife, I called Honest1 to see if the van was ready. It was, and the total cost was $101.68. I was so happy! When I took my wife to work that morning, my "ox was in the ditch" so to speak. Not only did they get my ox out of the ditch, but they did it at, what I considered, a very inexpensive cost. I was truly blessed and thankful! From my initial contact with Honest1, I worked with Brandon. He was very understanding and extremely helpful throughout the process. I was impressed by how clean and organized the place was. I was especially impressed by the layout of the work area. It appeared that it would maximize efficiences. Given the success I had with this experience, I plan to take my vehicles to them in the future when they need repair.
